Pudsey's historic town benefits from a new wave of superfast fibre
We have upgraded more cabinets in the historic market town of Pudsey bringing superfast speeds to the local community.
Four new fibre broadband cabinets have been installed in the town, enabling around 467 homes and businesses to access the fibre optic technology, delivering download speeds of up to 80Mbps*.
Fibre broadband in the home means everyone in the family can do their own thing online, all at the same time, whether it’s downloading music or watching catch-up TV; streaming HD movies in minutes, or posting photos and videos to social networking sites in seconds.
Superfast broadband has the potential to significantly improve business performance. The benefits for businesses include faster file and data transfers, better access to cloud computing services and software, more sophisticated web-based contact with customers and support for more flexible working.
The overall objective for the Superfast West Yorkshire and York broadband programme is to ensure that more residents and businesses can access fibre optic broadband and make use of faster speeds and a reliable internet connection.
The upgrade will not happen automatically, so in order to take advantage of the higher speeds, residents and businesses in Pudsey wishing to switch to fibre-optic broadband should contact an internet service provider of their choice or alternatively use the Openreach Availability Checker to see if their home or business is included in the rollout.
*These are the top wholesale speeds available from BT’s local network business Openreach to all service providers; speeds offered by service providers may vary.
